Hi, David here in North Idaho. Careywood to be exact. The charts show me as Coeur D' Alene, but I guess that is because it is the closest large city. I'm actually half way between Coeur D' Alene and Sandpoint to the North. 90 miles from the Canadian border. The station is running on a desktop computer with windows 7. The detector is "Images SI Inc" with a wand positioned outdoors pointed South-West. After several interruptions in transmitting I installed a UPS System. No more down time. My computer would reboot to Linux. Which brings up another point, does anyone know of Linux software for Rad. Detection? I would much rather use Fedora than windows. About me, retired building contractor, insurance adjuster, farmer, fab shop, electrician, hvac company, and about a dozen other hats that I have worn. I now farm in Idaho, with cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks, and a huge garden. Full time work, harder than when I worked for a living. But my wife says I can't die until everything is done ;) On a side note, when I started monitoring 3 years ago, the usual count was 20 per minute. Now 134. Be safe.

Hi, I have the same GC unit that you have, but I use the PI to control my GC instead of my computer. My unit has been outside for over a year in Arkansas. I will sell the rest of the package if you want to use a PI instead of your computer.

Hi, I emailed you a reply, but don't know if you received it. I am interested in freeing up my other computer, but don't know what a pi is.

A PI was new to me also. It is powered by linux o/s on an sd card and includes a wireless plug in chip. Much better way to go than running a desktop 24 hours a day.

File comment: The PI is the little box to the right of the geiger counter.

An excellent idea. I think I would like to buy the entire package. My set-up is in my ham radio room 100 yds from the house. I could then use my old GC in the house as a backup. Do you offer the gmc 300plus for a little more money?

Ok, I'll just take the rest of the setup, if you can shoot me a price and a way to pay, we'll be all set.
Thanks, David

The rest of the package of the PI and software and chart membership for the first year is $120. + $10 shipping. Please send me your forum username and email address. Our packages has only been tested with the GMC-300, GMC-300E and GMC-320, any other units may not work completely with our system and is your responsibility.
