Post subject:  Home Radon Gas Safety

I purchased Safety Siren Pro Series3 Radon Gas Detector a few months back and my results are "close" to lab results. When placing the unit in my basement I received a reading of 8.5 pCi to 9.5 pCi. The reason for the range of this reading is I also did a First Alert Radon test. This test took two days to completed to which I had that sent away to their lab. The results from the lab were 7.3 pCi/L so it wasnt exact..and maybe due to shipping and the time it took to get tested maybe the level dropped?

I'm still learning about radiation and radon but I wanted to give my experience on Safety Siren Pro Series3.

Great numbers here...

So the worst case should be...

"When placing the unit in my basement I received a reading of 8.5 pCi to 9.5 pCi...

...The results from the lab were 7.3 pCi/L"

OK then...

8.5 - 7.3 = 1.2 variable

So a 1.5 error margin is a pretty safe bet...

How about the standards:

I believe we must shave every number we can now...

Less is less...

Don't forget food too!!!
There may be a way to diet (eat) our way out of these problems...

one of the experments was to get the radon gas down from 10 to 4. To do this we took a PI with a GMC-300 and used the PI Face relay to turn on a fan that got fresh air from outside. With positve pressure the radon gas went down to 5. I could run the fan all the time, but now the PI turns off the fan when the radon drops to 5. Positive pressure help stops the radon gas from leaking into the cracks in my office. You must be able to create a slight positive pressure. my fan is 55 cfm, tried a slower one and it did not work.

Hello everyone. Thank you very much for advice.

I had doubts when I first tested the unit as I had seen some reports of the device giving false reading. My first geiger counter (a GMC-300) seemed to have electrical issue so I returned it...but yea looks like my fears were confirmed. I've been messing around with trying to move air through my house to reduce the level.

Moving air is good to help get rid of the trapped radon gas. Take your unit outside and that will be the best readings for your house if you are just blowing air.
