WOW!!!!! You really need to set up a station online for netc ASAP!!!

I looked around you and found no confirmation on these extreeemly high readings.

I wonder what's causing this!!!

Did the counter get wet during the rain?

Please tell us about the location of the read shown in the photo...

ie: Outside or inside, time of day/night, and date!!!!

Here's the page with instructions and software to put your counter online.

netc.com/software/

This is a very important step for you to take as we may can rule these spikes out (hopefully) or confirm them (hope not!!!)...

You should also get a second counter to confirm the counter is not malfunctioning!!!! Don't know about your budget but this is a must at this point. If these reads are real you've got a real problem. Get a 200 and hook it to the internet cheaply ($65)... Also get a radon test kit.

================

Also (MOST IMPORTANTLY) send your filters (car, ac, air purifier) in IMMEDIATELY to: radtest4u.com

Here's more info...

And be sure to post the results here so we can follow this situation!!!!

NO PLASTIC BAG!!! If the bag was the prob we'll never know...

Looks like something (mud) I'd like to drive my truck through for sure!!!!

Hold it close but don't touch it (that's what she said) for a few moments!!!

Probably not challenging enough for me (and my truck) but it sounds like fun to splash through!!! You need to follow some simple protocols to get this done correctly.

Not saying it ain't radioactive but ya just can't tell for sure unless ya do it the right way..lol :-)

A loblolly? Cool... where's the beer!!!! and a campfire too?

As for Vista I like it, if you don't have hardware probs, it's a pretty fast OS...
For this kinda thing, reload it and use that machine for this purpose only (or some such sh**).

Thanks for the info, I was startin too get worried....

...feelin better now.

Hi Jim:
After a rain, readings are sometimes very high. Youtube has many examples and "wow" statements, and a few explanations that it is natural Radon being washed down by the rain. So I think EB702D3F is correct with 9-1 odds it is Radon. Here is a quote from the EPA on their Air particulates measurements: (http://www.epa.gov/enviro/facts/radnet/search_userguide.html)

"Air Particulates. Air particulates are collected continuously at field stations using a high-volume air sampler. Air filters are replaced twice per week, either on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Gross radiation activity in particulate matter contained in the filters is initially measured in the field following a 5-hour period to permit decay of radon daughters that may be attached to collected particles. The filters are then sent for laboratory analyses."

So natural Radon seems to be present in pockets that seep from the ground then get moved by wind and rain and decay quickly. But your readings could be related to smoke; is your location down-wind of the forest fires? I wonder if your spike on June 17 when the wind blew may have been real and not a sensor pot adjustment issue. Was it after a rain then? Spikes in air particulate measurements in Eastern USA may be associated with the fires based on jet-stream direction and time delay, but that is just conjecture until we see some real lab results.
