Question... IF you read from a filter, does it accumulate particles, and the reading continue to go up and up?
Tnx

Yes, until the radiation decays away but this is the same method used by the EPA and also what they use at the WIPP site & others.

 Here is a look at my weeks graph.

Note that my previous high to this was only in the 50's and that was back in January of 2014.

Well it does not happen very often but we just lost power during this storm. My radiation monitoring stations will be offline until power returns. I do have an InspectorEXP with enough batteries for years of 24/7 monitoring. I will monitor my reading with that until the power returns.

Keep an eye on news about the local nuclear plant, Byron Nuclear Plant. I hope everything is fine there.

I just replaced my outside radiation station air purifier filter. While I changed the filter I left the unit running. This can be seen by the drop off of radiation detected between 5:00 pm CST - 5:10 pm CST but soon returns to the previously recorded levels.

Today 8/19/2014 an early morning storm pushed through which caused my already elevated readings to climb higher reaching RADCON 5 "A" level.

Today 8/21/2014 at 4:20 p.m. CST I replaced the filter with a new one to eliminate any chance that my high readings were from contamination resulting from previous fallout. You can clearly see on the chart as it drops off during the filter change and then starts to climb again after it is replaced with the new one. I tested the filter I removed with my Inspector EXP geiger counter which read a peak of 800 CPM before starting to decay away.
