“Beginning early Saturday morning, we conservatively and safely shut down one of Turkey Point’s two nuclear reactors. As Irma’s path changed, the decision was made to leave the second reactor online, as hurricane force winds were no longer expected at the site. We will adjust this plan, if needed, subject to weather conditions,” an FPL statement said.

Today (Monday September 11, 2017) I looked on the NRC Reactor Status report and see that both reactors are shutdown now.

I find this news article interesting because it talks about how St. Lucie nuclear plant will not shutdown due to hurricane Irma but today the NRC Reactor Status today shows Saint Lucie 1 is at 0% so obviously it did shutdown. Now the question is was it a SCRAM or not.

Florida Power & Light shutdown 3 of their 4 nuclear reactors but don't be fooled, they all were not done as a preventative measure due to hurricane Irma. This article is a MUST READ!

Please copy & paste the link below to read the article. I do not want to directly link to it out of fear that they might see us linking to it and lock down their site to subscriptions only.
