What a cool feature. I haven't used the absolute mode before. Looking at Japan it really shows the fallout area.
I imagine part of the reason the mountain states have higher readings is they're at higher altitude so are picking up more cosmic background. There's also lots of exposed rocks and erosion. Billings sits below a big rim, and it always seams to have some of the highest readings in the nation.
