Rain can carry radiation if present. It has been sometime since I have noticed significantly elevated radiation readings during a storm system, but it is obviously what is currently happening today.

 During events like this, I make sure to not allow the rain to touch my skin, stay inside as much as possible, run HEPA house air purifiers and run the heater/dehumidifier to take the moisture out of the air.

:?: Now the question is, what type of radiation is it and where did it come from?

I have noticed an uptick in radiation counts when in rains in the Portland, OR area also not only with Radnet but with my own radiation monitor. Unfortunately, I cannot stay inside all of the time as we have more rain than sun here but as you do, I minimize my time outside when raining, run a filter, and try to keep all windows and doors adequately sealed. I think the best thing I do for my body is to drink a cup of either clay water, zeolite water, or baking soda water everyday once or twice to help eliminate the radiation and heavy metals. I also add a couple of drops of Lugol's 5% iodine solution to a cup of water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and drink almost every day as have an under active thyroid that means it is prone to sucking up radiation and this aids in the distribution of the radiation throughout my body faster but with adequate iodine the thyroid sucks this up instead and this displaces or does not allow the saturation of the thyroid with the damaging radiation. No side effects from supplementing with small amounts of iodine and I know some people who take like 20 drops a day with no problems.

I have previously read about zeolite, but I have never used it before and likely will not unless I my local nuclear plant has a meltdown or something close to that situation. As for supplementing with iodine, I have done that from time to time but potassium iodine only helps to block one of many radioactive isotopes from our body.

Quote:
KI (potassium iodide) may not give a person 100% protection against radioactive iodine. Protection will increase depending on three factors.

Time after contamination: The sooner a person takes KI, the more time the thyroid will have to “fill up” with stable iodine.
Absorption: The amount of stable iodine that gets to the thyroid depends on how fast KI is absorbed into the blood.
Dose of radioactive iodine: Minimizing the total amount of radioactive iodine a person is exposed to will lower the amount of harmful radioactive iodine the thyroid can absorb.

The 3 key factors underlined in the above quote are very interesting because history has shown us that most of us rely completely on our government entities to notify us when there has been a nuclear accident. Using just one as an example, the Three Mile Island accident, people we not notified of it until much later after it happened. The plant was knowingly venting radioactive steam from the plant and the public was not notified until later. It was 3 days before people (woman & children) were even evacuated.

I found this documentary a good eye opener for people unaware of the dangers of nuclear power. Many people today have no idea about the Three Mile Island accident or even the Chernobyl accident. There are half truths within this documentary though. The guy in it that says nuclear power isn't adding to global warming is obviously wrong.

Here is proof that during the Fukushima accident (just like at Three Mile Island) people were not notified in a timely manner enough to take the KI (potassium iodide) tablets.
