Look, I am going to say something that has been on my mind for 2 months. Allowing the damned certificate to expire
has cost viewers. Norski.

Do you know what level of keV is the beginning of an Alarm level?

Hi Pinto, "Gamma in energy range 600-800keV" - this is the radiation energy range that is being "counted" by the EPA equipment.

So, the number of counts (or detections) per minute (CPM) within that energy range are what we are concerned with.

Another way to look at it is - 800keV is not a count rate but an energy level, and the number of counts (or detections) within the energy levels 600-800keV are being recorded and charted for every minute. (CPM)

...OR... when an atom decays (or disintergrates) it releases energy. The energy it releases will be different depending on what the atom was (cesium, cobalt, etc, etc) before it disintergrated .
Now think of these different disintergration energies as different colours.
Call 600-800keV blue then "count" how much blue you can see.... But dont "count" the red (100-300keV)...

I hope this helps.
Peace :)

As I said in the other post...

nothing is free in waterworld.

the $20 yearly subscription probably doesn't quite fund the server expenses let alone other stuff.

I think an alternative might be to seek a wealthy benefactor to fund the NETC venture???
...possibly a good task for some college students???

I dunno.

Netc.com is still under my control. Do you want me to sell my soul for a few pieces of silver. I will keep it running as long as I can. Thank you all for the small payment of $20. We would like any donations too, just send it to staff@netc.com using PayPal. Thanks again.

Thank you Harlan for all your continued efforts to make NETC available to those who care enough to use it.

Even aside from the out of pocket server costs, you still offer people free access to add their geiger counter to your network through the free NETC Windows software.

Even offering this service for free it is sad to see how few in the U.S. care enough to setup even the GMC-200 model $85 station which you get no money from.

P.S. - I suggest that you eliminate hosting of pictures .jpg files to save on bandwidth costs. People can use free hosting sites and link the pictures to this forum like I do.

yeah, good on you Harlan. You, and your programmers, are doing the world a service.

@ HEY Of course not! Not for $...

Yet our task, (IMO), is to set our children on a good path and turn them loose so they may spread their wings and fly. To be all they can be!

:-)

I have no doubt this excellent effort must cost you...
Thank you for every bit of effort you have put into it.

Especially in the light (darkness) of gubment's failure to protect our basic rights.

Is there a "scientist" around who will help me determine if my location is in dangerous radiation?
That's what I want to know. If it is dangerous I'll leave this location and would need help determining if another location is safer.

I'm trying to understand the integration of EPA Radnet monitors to the NETC map.

At the EPA Radnet site there are many gamma detectors around the country that are showing CPM's of 5000-7000 cross all energy levels it picks up. I understand the issues with interpriting CPM's from any one site, but I'm wondering why I don't see a location on the map for, lets say San Diego, which has a CPM in the 7000 range. Shouldn't those stations show up on the map, or are you not including all Radnet sites?

Thanks in advance for your help.

EDIT: I meant to add a few links to these monitors at EPA. Here are a few.
