I think this looks like a very nice Atomic Dave unit, but I do not own the Titan. I do own a Mazur 9000 and inspectorEXP. The Titan looks like the Mazur 9000 but it don't look like it has the same features as the Mazur 9000 which is the only reason I like my Mazur 9000 even over my InspectorEXP. Although, unlike the Mazur 9000 which requires you to unscrew and remove the entire case to replace the battery (battery located near a vertical circuit board - easy to damage) this Atomic Dave Titan unit has a battery door. Overall I still believe when all three are compared (InspectorEXP, Mazur 9000 & Atomic Dave Titan) for field tests the Mazur 9000 with the built-in high/low and average features still make it the best of those three. If I wanted to use a pancake unit simply to connect to NETC for example, I think that I would select the Titan due to the low cost price for a pancake unit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCEy-Z_esuk |

Yes, I read some negative reviews on Amazon about changing the battery on the Mazur 9000 and that, plus the price, scared me away.  I know Atomic Dave is emphasizing the Titan as the best way to go for high end geigers. I haven't seen any for sale on E-Bay yet, but I expect them soon. I usually see them on the bottom of the counter for most applications. This one is on top. |

Thanks for the link, I do like the sensitivity of it and he said it is more durable too. I also like how this unit has a 10 minute test feature built-in but again I do not see a high and low feature like on the Mazur 9000. |

rdesrosi: Do you plan on using the Atomic Dave geiger as a monitoring device? That's what I'm using mine for. With the pancake it should work quite well. All you need is a USB charging cable to connect to NETC. I used the one off my digital camera.

Dep, Not sure yet if I will be using it for long term monitoring. I guess I need to look into how long the tube will last if left on 24/7. This was my main reason why I purchased 2 GQ counters since replacement tubes are pretty cheap making them a very economical choice for a 24x7 duty cycle. Also I was thinking of using this to begin to start testing food with so if it is hooked up to NETC I would have to take my station off line every time I eat, so like 5 times a day As for the price, my Borg was $387.35 with the USB to 3.5mm adapter cable, the pelican case, wireless remote, and 2 sample test sources in addition to two day USPS shipping. Should be here Thursday or Friday, cant wait to get it out and start testing. -Randy |

No geiger counter is good for testing food because you can not tell the difference between the natural radiation (God made) like real potassium or the man made nuclear stuff. For food a scintillation counter is best because you not only detect the radiation/energy like a geiger counter can but it will show you the different energy levels which each represent different isotopes.
