I tested the old Coleman Mantles that are use for light. The backgound radiation is around 20 cpm and over the mantles it went to 479 cpm in about 30 seconds. ![]() |

I wonder if that was from the mantles themselves or from the propane fuel you've been burning in them. |

What model geiger counter were you using for the measurement so I can understand better how radioactive it is. |

I took the extra spare mantles from the box and used my gmc-300 over the top of them. I plan to go to walmart and check out their supply of mantles tomorrow. |

Yesterday I tested a new mantle from Walmart. No radiation above the norm. |
