Post subject:  California Riverside Valley Appears Hot??

I was wondering what is going on in Fresno and Riverside California as the range appears 300-400 and even 900 cpm vs average of 20-30 in coastal areas. Is it how the wind blows through the center of California? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Are you trying to compare the EPA gamma stations/sites against the private network stations/site? looking at the CPM examples that you gave above, it seems like you are. The two different type of sites use different equipment so you can not compare the CPM (more sensitive equipment registers higher CPM under the same radiation conditions) between them. You can compare the graph patterns/trends between them, for example when the station shows a rise in radiation compared to a different station. You also have to take in to consideration beta radiation vs. gamma radiation. This Nuclear 101 section was created to help people better understand all of this & more: https://www.netc.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=7
