My geiger went unusually high this morning for a brief period of time - maybe 15/20 mins. Normal range here is measured in 20's, I come down to the basement where I have it next to a window and it was in a 1300's. I unplugged it, turned it off to see if it was equipment related and it spiked right back up. After another 10 mins or so it settled down. Not sure what that was all about.

I can't remember the model number, but it is connected to Rasberry PI. I had another alarm shortly ago, this time measured in the 2000+ CPM. Very strange. Generally hovers in the low to mid 20's. We did have a mass of cold air come through, maybe with low pressure cold air, radiation is falling out of atmosphere?

When I return home I will post model number. Also after this morning's unusual activity, I had someone at my house relocate the unit to different part of home near another window.

I believe you are likely using the GMC-200 or GMC-300 style geiger counter, I own both. I own a fiestaware saucer which is the most radioactive thing I own. The radiation would have to really be high in your area for a unit like the GMC-200 or GMC-300 style units to be really reading radiation as high as you are talking about "2000+" http://www.orau.org/ptp/collection/consumer%20products/fiesta.htm
