May I ask a few questions, because I have done many of those tests too.

Was the filter/purification system still running on the unit during the time of testing.

Was this from inside or outside air?

How long did it take for the reading to return to normal?

I would like to mention that I am in Illinois and my outside readings have been recently above my normally seen level. Not good.

Hi King Cobra, Sorry for the tardy reply.

I put the hepa machine in that particular room because it gets the dustiest from the vent. That vent is closest to the ac/heater unit.
I slid the filter out of unit and put it in a plastic bag and tested it in another room.
It is inside air but the filter is set up close to the heating/ac vent.
The reading did not go back to normal.

Looking for a cheap gamma ray detector to investigate that other elephant in the room, our local EPA cleanup site. The spent fuel sits above ground here at Maine Yankee in Wiscasset (at sea level). The Feds are responsible for removing these waste containers. It's only been 17 years.

I have to say that it was the dirty side I tested. I should have also tested the cleaner side. Duh. Next time.

On the Hepa filter the dirty side is the one to test because the clean side is normally very low if the Hepa filter is doing its job.
