Why? Well, just for a bit of fun actually....
I lived fairly isolated, out west, as a young'n and met some good people from all over the country on my CB base station. It was a strange kind of freedom. When skip was on I could go where the signal would carry me and...meet someone else who was doing the same thing and talk about nothing until the signal faded or swung around to some other part or the country.
Just a bit of fun, rc...different strokes?

Well Thanks, ELnD, for being a sensible, stable fellow, and not getting upset at me for my blunt, negative post, above!

I do think you will get more mileage using the CB's that everyone is able to purchase, and make use of as they wish.
Especially if you apply some of the ham radio knowledge to operation... Large rhomic antenna arrays, low loss cables, and amplifiers, (which would be illegal, but in time of crisis, all's fair!)
Full wavelength quad beams and Carolina Windom longwire antennas were fun for me to build, and use! QRP is quite an entertaining undertaking!

You might try building some fancy arrays on 477mhz!

:-)
Let's try this...
Run a print-out of what I've said, and show it to a few ham guys that you know of...
See what they have to say about it.

Best
rc

It's all good, rc.
Thanks for offering these ideas and your opinion, I'll keep in mind what you've said...

Station up - Software sorted
There's been a bit of an event here while my netc monitor was down...

Thie kind of thing usually only happens during a major rain event, but during this event there were clear skies :?:

Japan has had a large increase in radiation and it has been going south, could that be the cause of your radiation.

Could be. There was an airstream coming down from the tropics at the start of that period.

Station down today due to insect attack! The LED on my backup power supply attracted a tiny moth to the exact wrong place in the circuit which caused some wires to meltdown and a small explosion. No fire luckily. I'll be working on repairs today...
