The EPA didn't warn us about the original fallout plume from Fukushima and during that time, many of their key sites were already offline or went offline just before it reached us. This is what we should expect anytime something happens and that is why people here are crazy if they don't have an outside radiation station setup using an air purifier system like the owner of NET and I have. I am very thankful that a station owner in St. Charles Illinois has a unit like that setup, which is just South East of my location. I use that stations readings to compare with and as a result, I often get confirmation immediately that my high readings are in fact correct and not false readings.

Here is a link to a news station talking about the smoke fallout from the recent Canada fires. I know that in the a.m. on Friday July 3, 2015 (around 6 a.m.) outside the smoke outside was clearly seen and smelled as it had fallen with the morning dew. Not surprising that my outside radiation readings were elevated above their normal range during times in the day that I don't see elevated levels. There is no question in my mind that the Canada fire were the transport vehicle for this radiation, likely fallout previously from Fukushima.

Here is a recent news story talking about the smoke but of course, no mention about radiation and not even any suggestion to stay inside.

Here is a screen shot showing my outside radiation station two week one hour average graph. Clearly my levels can be seen as elevated.

Hey Islander,

Great to hear from you. So it sounds like you invested in a unit that shows the isotopes involved with your readings!!!! Great to know!

What mca (software) are you using?

Do you have sources for calibration?

Shielding?

Here's a good start:
http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsea ... ult?q=safe

Software?

MCA (software):

Thermino is a great FREE open source program to go with your gear...

http://www.theremino.com/downloads/radioactivity

Download this one for a second opinion over your factory software...

...and remember the results don't have to be perfect or certified. They will simply show the possibilities and we can use this info to alert a (certified) lab to test for the (more official) results.

Do a test and then send the sample to radtest4u.com to see if they get the same indicators.

And by all means let us know (PM or e-mail me) what you find, official or not!!!

Good to see people really stepping up in this fight to prove what is actually causing the "clicks" that everyone seems to want to speculate about so much.

Happy to help in any way I can...

I look forward to hearing from you!!!!

Here is a news link and quote I found. It is interesting that both Iowa & Nebraska issued health warnings.

Source: http://kstp.com/article/stories/s3839346.shtml

Quote:
National Weather Service forecasters say Tuesday that smoke from wildfires in northern Saskatchewan is blowing as far south as Tennessee. A thick band of smoke extends through much of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, eastern Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.

The smoke prompted health warnings in Iowa and Nebraska. The haze also has slightly cooled temperatures

Oh yea, that's interesting that they would report it, but the smoke is very noticeable so I guess someone had to say something...

...no mention of potential health effects from these particles that are so small (and obviously radioactive) that they get deep into your lungs and never come out. Just don't be smoking tobacco at the park or anything, that would be baaaad for someone sitting beside you.

Take a look at this read...

Just another critical station that's currently offline and hasn't updated in hours...

Should be against the law to stop reporting like this when we need the data now more than ever...

One could imagine that it's so there is no recorded evidence of these events...

...could also be that they don't want to clean the entire station(s) afterward.

VERY concerning...

"As of 3:00 p.m. July 7, 2015 fine particle levels had reached unhealthy levels in a diagonal band across the state including: Marshall, St. Cloud, Brainerd, Duluth, and Grand Portage," according to a statement from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. "This band of smoke is expected to continue to move across the state Monday evening and into the early morning hours Tuesday."

The Milwaukee Wisconsin EPA RadNet station hit a six month high on July 5th from what appears to be the Canada fire transporting radiation fallout likely from Fukushima 2011.

I contacted the EPA regarding the Charlotte spike and they provided the following response:

Quote:
Fluctuations in count rates at one site from day to day are common and typically reflect variations in natural background radiation. In addition to the posted hourly count rates, EPA also publishes laboratory analyses of the air samples collected by RadNet monitors. These published laboratory analyses provide gross beta concentrations of the collected air samples (picoCuries per cubic meter of air), which are more informative than the count rates provided by the hourly posts.

The laboratory analyses from July should be posted to Envirofacts (http://www.epa.gov/enviro/facts/radnet/customized.html) later this month.

It seems they post the results in batches but not necessarily every month because the posted data currently stops at June 12 and this has not changed since early July.
