California Crabs - Dungeness Crab Season Closed

I seek the truth over fear mongering. I have read a report that the California Dungeness crab season is closed, not because of a toxic algae as reported but because of contamination from Fukushima radiation. With so many of your members monitoring radiation levels, has anyone confirmed this rumor?

Fukushima radiation on the coast of California is a fact and it has been admitted by experts. Fukushima continues to leak new radiation in to the Ocean daily since the Fukushima accident in March of 2011. Tuna contaminated with Fukushima radiation was caught off the coast of Califormia just four months after the Fukushima accident happened. The so called safe levels of radiation differs from expert to expert and last I checked, the U.S. government was trying to raise the allowable so called "safe" level in our food & water.

Bioaccumulation is a fact and a diagram of how that works can be seen below. My family does not eat anything from the Pacific Ocean, limit our food from California and nolonger eat mushrooms from anywhere. http://www.EneNEws.com has many links to very interesting mainstream media stories about Fukushima and our food.

I am aware of all that information and have stopped eating wild salmon which I used to love. I know that hundreds of tons of radioactive water from Fukushima are being poured into the pacific daily. I know that eventually this will have to change the entire ocean. My question was more specific. Has anyone actually detected radioactivity in Dungeness crabs???

Due to the forum character limits per post, I will need to reply with several posts below to answer your question completely.

No, I have not seen any article that specifically mentioned radiation in Dungeness crabs, only domoic acid.

Quote:
Fisherman from across the West coast are flocking to California, where the start of crabbing season is just days away. Or not: Health officials are warning that rock and Dungeness crabs along the state coast are contaminated by high levels of domoic acid, a known neurotoxin. State authorities are expected to decide this week whether or not to delay the opening of the Dungeness season—which yields one of the biggest harvests in the nation—and temporarily halt the harvest of rock crabs, which is permitted all year.

The article http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2015/11/california-has-toxic-crabs never mentions anything about Fukushima as the cause of the warmer than normal waters off California causing the algae (or blob as they call it) which as a result is causing the domoic acid. I think just because of the lack of the word Fukushima, I suspect the author either knows or suspects Fukushima as the cause and like so many others out there... refuse to speak it. The article does mention global warming as the cause which in a round-about way, Fukushima could be what they are talking about indirectly. I find it interesting that the effects/symptoms of this domoic acid on the sealife seems to easily match that of radiation poisoning. Furthermore they point out it started in the bottom feeders, just as bioaccumulation does.

The acid is coming from a toxic phytoplankton, or algae, species that thrives in warm waters and makes its way into the food web as it's consumed by anchovies, sardines, and shellfish. Besides Dungeness crabs, are any other marine creatures are affected? Yes, lots. according to a NOAA report released Tuesday, domoic acid is showing up at potentially lethal levels among a record number of animals, including dolphins, whales, sea lions, and seabirds, and causing seizures among the latter two. Washington closed some areas to crabbing and clam digging earlier this year, Oregon has indefinitely postponed the start of its razor clam season, and California health officials have warned against eating recreationally caught shellfish in some regions.

***** Breaking News ********
The state of California has CANCELLED this year's Crab Season, saying the Crabs are unfit for human consumption. They _claim_ that warm ocean waters have allowed a strange Algae to grow, which is giving off a neurotoxin being absorbed by Crabs. This toxin could cause memory problems, tremors or DEATH in humans. HOWEVER, SuperStation95 has found out that the _real_ reason for cancelling this year's $60 Million crab season is high levels of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan.

High levels of radioactive Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 have finally made their way across the Pacific ocean from Japan. According to employees of the California Fish and Wildlife Commission, levels of radiation two-thousand, five-hundred forty times (2,540) over the "safe" limit have been found in fish!

This information is being concealed by California officials who allegedly do not want the public to panic or cause Americans to stop eating California/Pacific seafood.

The reason I seek facts is because there is much fear mongering these days, much of it to profit those who lie, and those of us awake enough to understand impending disaster do not want to risk being called crazy or fringe-we want the truth to speak loudly and we want more people to understand that THERE NO SAFE NUCLEAR-and there is the possibility that we are not always getting the truth about a situation... we hope that the planet can be saved and that people will care enough to want to save it.. these are strange times indeed- we can only change it one person at a time... may this site help communicate facts that can lead to wiser choices for humanity
